Schezwan Beef


  • 2 lbs Beef sliced thinly
  • 1 tbsp light Soya sauce
  • 1 tbsp Shaoxing wine
  • 1 tsp freshly cracked black Pepper
  • 1 tsp Baking Soda
  • 1 tbsp Corn starch
  • 1/4 cup diced white Onion
  • 1/4 cup Spring Onions
  • 1/4 cup minced Garlic
  • 1/2 cup julienne of green Peppers
  • 2 tbsps Shaoxing Wine
  • 2 tbsps light Soya sauce
  • 3 tbsps Schezwan sauce


  • Slice the beef thinly and marinate with the light soya sauce, shaoxing wine, black pepper, baking soda and cornstarch and leave aside to marinate for 30 mins
  • In a hot wok, heat up some oil and add the white and spring onion, garlic and after a few minutes the green peppers
  • Saute to cook the raw onion and garlic flavour and remove
  • In the same hot wok, add some more oil and sear the beef slices on both sides
  • One the beef is seared on both sides, add the onion, garlic and green peppers back in
  • Add the rest of the soya sauce and shaoxing wine and the schezwan sauce
  • Toss and allow to cook for a minute before serving
