Moong Dal Vadas
Ingredients
- 1 cup yellow moong dal soaked for 3-4 hours
- 2 tbsps green chilies finely chopped
- 2 tbsps onion finely chopped
- ½ inch ginger finely chopped
- ½ tsp cumin seeds
- ½ tsp mustard seeds
- 2 tbsps curry leaves chopped
- 2 tbsps coriander leaves chopped
- ½ tsp chilli powder
- ¼ tsp turmeric powder
- Salt to taste
- Oil for deep frying
Instructions
- Prepare the Batter: Drain the soaked moong dal and grind it coarsely without adding water or just a little if needed.
- Mix Ingredients: Transfer the batter to a bowl, add chopped onions, green chilies, ginger, cumin seeds, coriander leaves, garam masala, turmeric, salt, and asafoetida. Mix well.
- Heat the Oil: Heat oil in a deep pan or kadhai on medium heat.
- Shape the Vadas: Take small portions of the batter and drop them into the hot oil carefully.
- Fry Until Golden: Fry in batches until the vadas turn golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- Serve Hot: Enjoy with mint chutney, tamarind chutney, or tomato ketchup.
