This luscious Chicken Curry is made special with the addition of fried Chillies and Curry leaves. I love this recipe as it yields a lovely green gravy, perfect to eat with Rice, Rotis, Idlis or Sannas. It’s a simple homestyle recipe that is also amazing to serve at parties and gatherings.
Special Green Chicken Curry
Ingredients
Chicken
- 800 gms Chicken pieces
- Juice of 1/2 Lime
- 1 tsp red Chilli powder
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric
- Salt to taste
Green Paste
- 10 – 11 Chillies 17 gms
- 1 cup Curry Leaves 8 gms
- Juice of a Lime
- 30 gms Ginger
- 30 gms Garlic
- 1 tbsp Peppercorns
- 1 tbsp Cumin seeds
- 2 cups Coriander leaves
- 1/2 cup Water
Other
- 2 cups sliced Onion
- 2 cups Water
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Marinate the Chicken and keep aside
- Lightly fry the Chillies and Curry leaves and add to the processor jar together with the other Green paste ingredients and grind to a paste
- Fry the Onion and when caramelized, add the Chicken pieces and sear for about 15 mins
- Add the Green paste, Water & Salt to taste
- Cover and cook for about 30 mins, stirring in between
