This recipe tries to replicate the Longuinho’s, Colva, Goa. This simple minute steak is marinated very simply and then fried. It’s served with a steak sauce, french fries and vegetables.

I remember my vacations in Goa, staying in the resort and often ordering this simple meal at night. I don’t have access to the original recipe that would have been used, but this comes close and is very satisfying.

Goan Beef Steak

Ingredients
  

Steak and Marinade
  • 5 thin minute Steaks – 200 gms – 1 kg – 2.2 lbs
  • 2 tbsps Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt to taste
  • 15 cloves of Garlic
  • 1 tbsp of Vinegar
  • 2.5 tsp Peppercorns
To cook & serve
  • Oil
  • 1/4 cup Butter
  • 1/2 cup sliced Onion
  • 1/2 cup sliced Mushrooms
  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 3 tbsps dark Soya sauce
Optional
  • Extra fried Onion rings
  • Extra fried sliced Mushrooms
  • French fries peas, carrot slices

Method
 

  1. Marinate the steaks with the sauce, salt, garlic and pepper
  2. Shallow fry and keep aside
  3. Add the onion to the pan and saute followed by the mushrooms
